Biofilm Formations
Biofilm formations may include such oral bacterium as antinomyces viscousus, an anaerobic bacterium that is part of the human oral flora. The rod shaped bacteria occur around the teeth, gums and throat in healthy people. Species of this bacterium can cause actinomycosis - an infection with the formation of abscesses in the mouth. Oral actinomycosis may occur due to bleeding gums.
