Dental Hygienist

A dental hygienist is a licensed dental professional who specializes in preventive oral care, typically focusing on techniques in dental hygiene. In most places, hygienists work under a dentist or periodontist. Common procedures performed by hygienists include cleanings, tool whitening and taking of x-rays.  In a growing number of practices, multiple hygienists work under a head who then answers to the dentist or head of the practice.
